There’s more to life than just buying more stuff. That’s why we like to do things a little bit differently on Black Friday. Since we get our ingredients from planet earth, we think it’s nice to give a little bit back to the place we call home. So, for the second year in a row, we are partnering with environmental organisation Friends of the Earth.
Why Friends of The Earth?
While we know we are not perfect, being kind to the planet is at the heart of everything we do here at Peppersmith, and we know this is something that you guys are really passionate about too. Friends of the Earth are an organisation who have been integral to making earth a better place. Over the years they have successfully campaigned to have doorstep household recycling implemented countrywide, won the fight to give bees a brighter future through eliminating dangerous chemicals from farming and planting hundreds of bee-friendly habitats, and mobilised thousands as part of the UK’s biggest ever climate change lobby.
Today, Friends of the Earth are working towards their goal ‘that by 2030, the next generation will enjoy an environment that’s getting better: a safer climate, flourishing nature, and healthy air, water and food’. We really believe this is something we should all be getting on board with, so that’s why we are supporting them in this campaign.
Our recent commitments to planet earth
Palm Oil Free Chewing Gum
We have recently gone palm oil free with our chewing gum. This is big news and something we are really proud to share. We used to use a small amount of RSPO assured sustainable palm oil in the vegetable glycerol in our gum, but we now use European sourced rapeseed oil which is epic. Plastic Free Packaging
You've probably heard that we removed the outer plastic film from all our little boxes of mints and gum earlier this year. This was a long time coming and took a tricky reformulation of the tamper seal on the box, but we got there in the end. We are also replacing our unrecyclable 50g pouches with a fully recyclable cardboard box in the new year. We can’t wait to share them with you guys. Where will the money go?
The money raised will go towards supporting Friends of the Earth’s environmental campaigning, helping them tackle the climate crisis by:
1. Pushing their campaign to double tree cover in the UK
2. Putting an end to single-use plastic
