As much as we like to spread the word about how good our products are for you, we think it’s time we talked a little more about how great they taste.
When the Peppersmith revolution began, the main mission was to improve the unhealthy state of confectionery by producing natural, sugar-free mints and gum. However, creating products that taste good and do good too is something which has proved difficult for many companies over the years. With many products that are healthy comes a compromise on flavour.
That’s why making mints and gum that taste great too is a real priority for the business. We think we’ve really cracked this, and so do the Great Taste Awards judges, giving us five awards for our gum and mints. Here’s how we do it….
Our Hampshire mint
For starters, we decided that to produce great tasting mints and gum we needed to source, well, great quality mint. Thankfully we managed to find a farmer in Hampshire who not only grows amazing British peppermint and spearmint, but who also turns it into some of the best mint oil in the world. The same mint farm has consistently provided us with such great tasting and good quality mint, that we have never looked back. Click here to see how a Peppersmith mint is made.
Real Sicilian lemons
Over the years as we launched more products, we have continued to make them with the highest quality natural ingredients. This is why we make our lemon mints from real lemons. The natural lemon flavour actually comes from the rind of Femminello and Monachello varieties of Sicilian lemons, which has a full zesty taste without the acidity. We also only use lemons from the winter harvest, as they are superior in flavour.
Organic Australian eucalyptus
We were also very careful to find the best tasting eucalyptus for our Extra Strong mints, so we headed to its traditional home – Australia. We found a family run farm in New South Wales who not only produce a lovely tasting variety of organic eucalyptus, but who are also very keen on sustainability too. Plus, they harvest the eucalyptus in exactly the same way as our mint is harvested in Hampshire. See, it really is meant to be.
Making no sacrifices when it comes to both flavour and the health benefits of our products is something we really care about. So although these ingredients are more difficult to source, we think it’s worth it and we hope you do too.
